The Calcutta University Teachers’ Association (CUTA) is a platform for teachers of all faculties of the University of Calcutta constituted by the permanent faculty members of the university. It is governed by its Executive Council that is constituted bi-annually through election.


Since its inception in the late 1960s, it has been persistently fighting for the university’s academic and cultural betterment. It has always realized the importance of the role the teaching community can play in safeguarding the interest of education not only of the university but of the society at large.


Its objectives have always been to uplift the academic atmosphere of the university. It has been a frontline to protect the autonomy and democratic functioning of the university and freedom of teachers. It strives to nurture healthy relations with the students and non-teaching staff of the university.
