AMUCT came in to existence in 1985 as a sole comprehensive body of college teachers of undivided Dakshina Kannada and Coorg under the jurisdiction of Mangalore University. The Association of Mangalore University College Teachers (AMUCT) being a registered body was formed with a twin objective of protecting the interest of the college teachers and promoting the cause of higher education. Major Achievements: Ensured satisfactory salary and service conditions by significantly contributing for the implementation of UGC Scales of Pay from 1986. Protected the honour and dignity of teaching profession and the teachers Contributed for restructuring of degree courses and evaluation systems in the interest of students Published Amuct Bulletin without any interruption for the last 25 years. Provided leadership to teacher movement at the state and national level.
