I shifted to India and want to know details about the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Examination Board. Will you provide me some basic details about this SSC board and also tell me about exam procedure and when the board takes the exam and publish result?

The Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Examination is a public examination in Bangladesh, India and Pakistan conducted as completion exam of secondary education. Students of 10th grade/class ten appear in these examinations.

It is an equivalent to GCSE in England.

In India it is also known as 10th Board Exam, is a public examination that is conducted by various boards of education including CISCE and other state boards for students of class 10 (Senior class).

CBSE made their class 10 boards non compulsory

Procedure

10th class exam is conducted at the state level by the state boards of education and at the National level by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations.

Class 10 exam is conducted annually.

Schedule

In India, 10th board exam is usually conducted in the month of March and April by most of the boards of education in India.

An exam schedule is released by the boards at least one month before the exam.

Class 10 board exam results are usually declared in the month of May/June.

Some of the education boards in India also declare a list of top 15 students in the board exams, called the merit list.

Results

The result declaration process for secondary exams starts from mid-April and continues to June–July.

Most of Indian education boards declare their exam results in this time frame.

CBSE 10th results are usually declared in mid-May.
