Income
The Navy JAG Corps offers active-duty judge advocates a competitive starting salary. The total compensation includes basic pay and certain non-taxable allowances, such as those for housing and subsistence.

Pay:
The salary for this rank caps at $72,000 per year after 14 years of service. All other branches typically start at about $40,000 per year and in all branches, rank and salaries increase with years of continued service.

Allowances
Military housing, they are given housing subsidies to supplement their base pay and assist with their daily needs. These allowances are tax free and, when combined with the base pay, can raise the officer's take-home pay by $20,000 per year.

Health and Life Insurance
Full medical and dental coverage for you and your family are available, as well as competitive life insurance policies, and once retired from the Navy, you will have health insurance for life.

Financial Assistance
To help repay debt or save for the future, career officers are eligible for a $60,000 incentive bonus paid over installments at various career milestones.
