The Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad is a public technical and Research University founded in 2008, among the eight young Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).

It is an autonomous statutory organization functioning according to the Institute of Technology Act. The IITs are centrally administered by the IIT Council, which is the apex body established by the Govt. of India.

Its vision is that it will be the cradle for inventions and innovations. It will advance knowledge and scholarship to students in science, technology and liberal arts, and equip them to handle the challenges of the nation and the world in 21st century.


Ranking

In India, IIT Hyderabad was ranked 8 among engineering institutes by the National Institutional Ranking Framework in 2019 and 22 overall.

IIT Hyderabad was ranked 198 in Asia by the QS World University Rankings of 2019 and 94 among BRICS nations in 2019.
