Re: University of Mumbai Sardar Patel

Sardar Patel College of Engineering (SPCE) is a building school situated in Mumbai, India. It is subsidiary to the University of Mumbai[1] and offers undergrad (Bachelor) and graduate (Master) degrees in designing.

It is one of only a handful couple of Mumbai University subsidiary schools that have gotten Grade "A" rating from the Government of Maharashtra. The school is upheld by government subsidizes, and was conceded self-governing status by the UGC in June 2010.

The school was established in 1961 as an administration supported designing school by Kulapati Dr. K. M. Munshi under the administration of the Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan.

The school began with courses in common, electrical and mechanical building with an underlying admission of 40 in each branch that was in this manner expanded to 60. At the time, it was just the fifth designing foundation in the Bombay area after Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute, University Department of Chemical Technology, IIT Bombay and M. H. Saboo Siddik College of Engineering.[citation needed] The foundation presented its initially post-graduate course, a Masters of Engineering (Civil) with basic designing subjects, in 1988 with help from the Ministry of Human Resource Development. Along these lines a post-graduate program in mechanical building disciplines was additionally presented.

The school is self-governing and partnered to the University of Mumbai for its full-time degree, post graduate, and research programs. The foundation is a perceived PhD and QIP focus and it is one of the TEQIP-II establishments.

The University of Mumbai perceived the school as two separate establishments - SPCE (Aided) offering Civil, Mechanical and Electrical designing courses and SPCE (Unaided) offering Computer Engineering, Electronics and Information Technology courses. The college fancied that these self-financed courses be isolated and housed in a different building and created as a different self-financed element. In this way, in 2005-06 the unaided wing was formally isolated from its parent school and set up as Sardar Patel Institute of Technology (SPIT).
