The Department of Economics is amongst the younger of the Departments in the Savitribai Phule Pune University

The Department was established in 1985 .

The Department offers a Master’s (two years) course in economics (MA) and Ph.D. in Economics.

Post Graduate Degree Courses-

Post-Graduate Degree in Economics - Masters in Economics (Two years)

Eligibility: Graduates in Economics as well as other streams with 50% at graduation (open
category) and 45% (reserve category) are eligible to apply

admission is based on the Entrance Exam.

The Entrance Procedure:

There are personal interviews of each candidate (50 % of the
entrance test marks) and the applicant's marks only in Economics at graduation. (the other 50% of the entrance test marks).

Doctoral program for Research (Ph.D.) in Economics

The online applications are usually available at the end of June and the interviews are held during the second or third week of July.

Classes for Semester I begin in the first week of August.

Admission forms for M.A. program can also be obtained from the department.

Graduates from other streams can also apply.
