Re: TNPSC Group I & II What Is Difference

Every department in private sector as well as public sector organizations is composed of different posts/ranks. Generally the senior most ranks is assisted by a particular posts which is further assisted by other ranks. Departments under State Government of Tamil Nadu also comprise of different posts comprises both senior positions and other service holders assisting them. Senior positions are categorized under Group I services
Assisting positions are categorized under Group II Services, which are further assisted by Group III service holders and so on.

The Group I Services under Tamil Nadu Government comprise of the following posts:

Deputy Collectors,

Deputy Superintendent of Police (Civil),

Deputy Superintendent of Police (communications),

Commercial tax officers,

Regional transport officers,

Divisional fire officers,

Municipal Commissioners,

Assistant superintendents in different departments like prohibition & Excise, Deputy engineers in various departments like R&B etc.

The Group II Services comprise of the following posts:

Deputy Tahsildars in Andhra Pradesh Revenue,

Asst. Commercial Tax Officers in A.P.

Commercial Tax dept.,

Sub-registrars in A.P stamps and

Registration, Excise Sub-Inspectors in A.P

Prohibition and Excise, Asst.Labour Officers in A.P Labour service etc.
