The associate should have an in-depth knowledge of the basic to intermediate tasks required in day-to-day use of IBM Tivoli Storage Manager V7 and should have conceptual knowledge of more advanced TSM tasks and functions.

Job Requirements

Required Pre-requisite knowledge
Conceptual knowledge of backup methodologies (full, incremental, differential, image, progressive).
Conceptual knowledge of deduplication, compression and encryption.
Conceptual knowledge of how in guest TSM backup/archive client protects virtual environments.
Conceptual knowledge of how to protect the TSM server db, logs and storage pools.
Conceptual knowledge of networking concepts (LAN, WAN, SAN).
Conceptual knowledge of node replication.
Conceptual knowledge of scheduling
Conceptual knowledge of storage devices (disk, tape, NAS)
Conceptual knowledge of the role the TSM server db, logs and storage pools
Conceptual knowledge of the TDP applications being backed up.
Conceptual knowledge of TSM server disaster recovery management.
Working knowledge of the basic Operations Center features.
Working knowledge of the differences between backup and archiving.
Working knowledge of the installation and configuration of the TSM Backup Archive client.
Working knowledge on how to do a restore or retrieve.
Working knowledge on how to do basic trouble-shooting inside of TSM for a failed backup or failed schedule.
Working knowledge on how to identify a storage pool that is filling up or off-line
