Founded in 1885, the UA was the first university in the Arizona Territory About Sigma Alpha Mu Fraternity University Of Arizona Sigma Alpha Mu is a historically Jewish fraternity established in 1909 in New York City and reached the University of Arizona in 1962. The Beta Gamma chapter of Sigma Alpha Mu strives to maintain a spirit of fraternity, brotherhood, scholarship, and love for and loyalty to the alma mater. Sigma Alpha Mu (or Sammy) continually holds events to benefit the Judy Fund, a foundation dedicated to scientific research for Alzheimer's Disease. Academics & Joining a Fraternity or Sorority Requirements and Recommendations Panhellenic Council There is no required GPA to participate in recruitment. It is highly recommended women have a 3.0 unweighted or higher from high school or a 2.75 or higher if they have been a full time college student Interfraternity Council There is a required GPA of a 2.75 unweighted from high school or a 2.5 or higher if men have been a full time college student.
