IES is Indian Engineering Services.
It is for the recruitment of the civil servants and officials in India.
It is a combined 4 stage competitive examination (with 6 tests), called the Engineering Services Examination (ESE) is administered by the UPSC for recruitment to the Indian Engineering Services

There are many branches under the IES and each provides different services;
