In order to become an IPS Officer candidates need to clear the Civil Services Examination conducted by the UPSC

Eligibility Criteria :-

Applicants can appear for the Civil Service Examination only if :-

>> Applicants is in the final year of graduation or has completed his graduation from a recognized University in any discipline..

>> Applicants must be within the age limit of 21-30 years if general (age relaxation according to government norms for reserved categories)

>> Applicants must also be physically fit in order to clear the medical examination.

minimum height for general male applicants is 165 cm and for general female is 150cm.
minimum height for schedule tribe(not sc) and races such as Gorkhas, Garhwalias, Assamese, Nagaland Tribals etc. is 160cm for male and 145 cm for female.

presence of squint is a disqualification,

distance vision:better eye->6/6 or 6/9 and worse eye-> 6/12 or 6/9.
near vision:better eye->J1 and worse eye->J2
correction permitted: spectacles
color vision required:high grade
binocular vision:yes

the minimum chest girth fully expanded: 84cm for male and 79 for female. expansion of 5cm is needed.

total myopia(including cylinder) maximum is -4.00D
total hypermetropia(including cylinder) maximum is +4.00D

blood pressure(high): between 120-129
