Re: QTAC Special Tertiary Admissions Test
QTAC (Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre) is a non profit, public company established in 1990 by the six State universities that existed in Queensland at that time. The institutions that participate in QTAC have now complete sovereignty in determining their own admission requirements and principles of selection. Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) The Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) is a 2 hour aptitude test that assists candidates in demonstrating their potential for tertiary study and helps tertiary institutions in making their selection decisions accurate. The test is usually accepted and used by most tertiary institutions in Queensland and many others throughout Australia too. A STAT result may improve the chances of selection. One can sit the test once per STAT year. If one has sat the test more than once (in different STAT years) one’s highest result will usually be used in assessing one’s QTAC application. Registering for the STAT QTAC Applicants QTAC administers the STAT in Queensland. If one applies for tertiary study in Queensland one simply nominates to sit the STAT on one’s QTAC Application. A few days before the test, one will receive either an email or letter confirming the time and location of the test. Applicants need to bring the letter/email along with the identification requested to the STAT sitting.
