Career as a Scientist is the most reputed career these days. Scientists are responsible to make this planet what it looks like today and saves lives by developing new life saving drugs and medicines.

Procedure to become Scientist:

Step 1:
Choose a specialty from a variety of specific filed (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, Geology, Astronomy and life/social sciences)

Educational Qualification:
10+2 or equivalent examination in their related subjects for undergraduate courses with approx. 60% marks.

Candidate has to apply for the entrance tests like AIEEE, IIT-JEE etc. conducted by the various Universities and independent institutions like IIT’s, IIS’s, etc for admission in under graduate courses.

Step 2:
After graduation you have to apply for Master’s Degree that can be followings:
Master of Science (M. Sc)
M.E. / M. Tech or any other Master’s degree in the related field

Educational Qualification:
Candidates should have Bachelor’s Degree with the subject of specialization with approx. 60% marks.

Candidate has to apply for the entrance tests like GATE etc. conducted by the various Universities and independent institutions like PEC, IIT’s, IIS’s, etc.

Step 3:
Now you have to apply for Doctoral (Ph.D.) and Post Doctoral degrees provided by various higher education and research institutes throughout the country.

You have to give following exams for being scientists:
• ARS/NET
• Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) entrance test
• Scientist Entrance test by DRDO

Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC)
Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR)
Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR)
Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences (ARIES)
Indian Association for Cultivation of Science, Kolkata (IACS)
Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM)

Job Opportunities for Scientist:
Research work in followings:
Commercial laboratories
Government laboratories
Hospitals
Higher education institutions
