Re: Ph.D Course Admission

PhD is a Doctorate level course. It is the highest educational qualification in any subject that one can have. It is concerned in providing in-depth knowledge in the subject.

The eligibility and procedure for doing Ph. D varies with the discipline and University and Institute. But in general the procedure given below is as follows:

Eligibility:

One need to have a Master degree (Post Graduation) in any discipline with at least 55% marks and minimum 50% marks in Bachelor degree (Graduation)

or

One need to qualify CA (Chartered Accountant), ICWA(Institute of Cost and Works Accountants Of India), CS(Company Secretary) exam with at least 55% marks with at least two years works experience after getting the degree.

or

One need to have the B.E or B.Tech degree at least 50% marks with at least 2 years work experience after getting the degree.

Now according to new UGC rules one need to clear some sort of Entrance Exam/Interview (whether it is NET or some other exam) for admission in to Ph. D program

After getting admitted to Ph. D program one have to complete course work for requisite credits. For getting "registered" for Ph. D at university one need to

i) Completion of credits through coursework,
ii) A Formal proposal of research (synopsis) devised in consultation with your guide and approved by doctoral committee,
iii) And of course some filled form and fee deposited.

The overall duration of the course is four to five years.
However the exact duration is seldom defined because the type of thesis in which the candidate is undertaken their PhD depends on different factors.

This course has tremendous career opportunities in the research based sector.

The candidates in most of the cases undertake the job as a lecturer or professor in prestigious institutes of the same subject. They can also find different deskwork based jobs in several daily newspaper agency as well as journals.
