The Aligarh Muslim University has a Malappuram Centre was established by A.M.U. in 2010. The classes of the first batch were started on 28.02.2011 in a rented building (Al-Hazmi building, Pattambi Road) at Perinthalmanna.

The Centre is located in the educationally and socially backward, Muslim-majority Malappuram District of Kerala.

The Centre, from its inception offers two academic programmes viz. B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) and M.B.A and then added one more course i.e. B.Ed

The functioning of the Centre has been re-located to the Semi-permanent buildings already constructed in its own spacious (336 Acres) Campus w.e.f. 01.06.2012.
