The selection procedure for B. E. /B. Tech admission through TNEA (Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions) under Other State Quota by Anna University is as follows:

The selection of candidates is on the basis of the marks obtained in the prescribed subjects in the qualifying exam. The academic marks in the prescribed subjects reduced to 200 (Mathematics 100, Physics + Chemistry = 100) will be considered for Ranking.

Normalisation of Marks and Inter-se Merit

The marks obtained by the students in the relevant subjects in qualifying exam conducted by various Boards or Authority is equated with the marks obtained by one in the same subjects in the qualifying exam conducted by the State Board of Tamil Nadu by adopting the method of normalisation.

After normalisation of marks, the qualified students are merged into a common merit list. The candidates region wise rank is also indicated.

An overall merit list is prepared based on the total marks of 200. If more than one candidate have got the same marks in the common merit list, the inter-se merit among such candidates are determined in the order of priority as follows:
Percentage of marks in Mathematics,
Percentage of marks in Physics,
Percentage of marks in the fourth optional subject,
Date of Birth (elder will be given preference) and
Random number assigned (higher value will be given preference).

The overall rank, region wise rank and Community-wise rank lists are published in the Anna University Chennai

Selection Procedure for B. Arch

The selection of candidates is on the basis of the marks obtained in the qualifying exam and also in the NATA conducted by the Council of Architecture. One should have passed NATA. Those who have not appeared and passed in the NATA are not eligible for B. Arch. Degree Course.

The total academic marks for HSC (Academic/Equivalent) are reduced to 200. For Diploma candidates the academic marks in all semesters put together are reduced to 200. The maximum mark for NATA is 200. Ranking of the candidates will be based on 400 marks (NATA mark 200 and Academic mark 200).

A merit list is prepared based on the total marks of 400. If more than one candidate has got the same marks in common merit list, the inter-se-merit among such candidates are determined in the order of priority as given below:
Academic Aggregate for 200
Date of Birth (elder will be given preference)
Random number assigned (higher value will be given preference).

The overall rank and community-wise rank lists will be published in the Anna University
