The Nagaland University has a Department of Education. The Department of Education was established on 7th September, 1978.

The Department offers Master of Arts degree course in Education. Duration of the MA programme consists of four semesters in 2 years covering sixteen course papers with a number of optional selective papers.

In addition to the Masters Degree programme, Department offers Doctoral Research Study in Education.

Presently there are 25 Ph.D scholars working in the Department.
