Government Law College ,Mumbai established in 1855 enjoys a pre-eminent national and international reputation for excellence.

A Candidate passing the Bachelor’s Degree Examination of the Mumbai University, in any faculty with minimum 45% marks at the first attempt or a corresponding degree examination of any other University recognized are eligible for admission to the First Year L.L.B.

Admission Procedure
i)General Category of students from Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education.
ii)50% Reserved Category from Maharashtra as per the G.R.
1. SC (Hindu and Baudha)
2. Special Backward category
3. Vimukta Jati
4. NT1
5. NT2 (Dhangar etc.)
6. NT3 (Vanjari etc.)
7. OBC
8. ST

Applicants who has successfully completed three years study is entitled to the L.L.B degree and is eligible to practise as an advocate, as per the Rules of the Bar Council of India.

The Government Law College, founded in 1855, is the oldest law school in Asia dating even prior to the University of Mumbai


Admission seats :
General Category of students from Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education.
ii) 50% Reserved Category from Maharashtra as per the G.R.

5. NT2 (Dhangar etc.)
6. NT3 (Vanjari etc.)

iii) 3% seats reserved for the following categories

1. Children of transferred central/ state Government employees/ officers.
2. Children of Service man/ Ex-Serviceman
3. Candidates who have excelled in sports or extra curricular activities at the state/ national/ international level.
4. Physically handicapped/ disabled students.
5. Widowed/ Deserted girl student.
6. Children/ Grandchildren of freedom fighters.

Eligibility criteria :
Candidate passing the Bachelor's Degree Examination of the Mumbai University, in any faculty with minimum 45% marks at the first attempt or a corresponding degree examination of any other University recognized as equivalent thereto by the Mumbai University


Admission requirement Documents :
1) Original statement of marks with a certified copy
2) Original Caste Certificate by students intending to avail benefits of the below mentioned categories:

a. Scheduled Caste
b. Scheduled Tribes including those outside specific areas.
c. De- notified Tribes
d. Nomadic Tribes
e. S.B.C.
f. Other Backward Classes
3) Passing certificate and certified copy of document indicating the date of birth, for example, school leaving certificate
4) Two recent passport size photographs
5) In the case of a student migrating from another University, a Provincial Eligibility Certificate issued from the Mumbai University will be required. Application for the certificate is to be made to the Registrar of Mumbai University in the prescribed form along with the prescribed fees.
6) In the case of a student passing out from a college affiliated to the Mumbai University, a Transfer Certificate (T.C.) from that college will be required. The application for the T.C. should be sent through this college ion the prescribed form.
7) Foreign students seeking admission should produce their passport and student visa at the time of admission. Those holding tourist visas or entry visas will not be considered.
8) At the time of admission, every student must undertake to attend at least 75% of the total number of lectures held in each semester.
