Can you tell me about the eligibility requirement for Admission in for Three Years Integrated LL.B. Programme offered by Gujarat University?

The Gujarat University is established in the year 1949 by The Gujarat University Act, 1949. As per the powers conferred in the said Act, Gujarat University has constituted Gujarat University Admission Committee to regulate the admission of candidates to the certain programmes as mentioned in The Gujarat University Three Years Integrated LL.B. Programme Admission Rules, 2016.

Eligibility for Admission:

For the purpose of admission, one shall have passed the qualifying examination.

One who has passed the qualifying exam with minimum 45% of marks or equivalent grade is eligible for admission. One belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) is given exemption of 5 % from the above criteria. (Minimum 40% for the candidates of SC and ST categories) and one belonging to SEBC category will be given exemption of 3 % (Minimum 42 % for the candidates of SEBC Category);

Provided that such a minimum qualifying marks shall not automatically entitle one to get admission in any of the Centre of Legal Education but only entitle one concerned to fulfil basic criteria fixed by the Bar Council of India or other equivalent authority and the Gujarat University from time to time to apply for the admission.

One having below 45 % at the Graduation Level Exam (Qualifying Exam) but having 45 % or more than 45 % at the Post Graduation Level is eligible to take admission in Three Years LL.B. Programme, if one is otherwise qualified as per the rules of the Bar Council of India. While preparation of the merit list at the admission process of the LL.B. Semester I, such candidates are placed at the position of merit taking into consideration the marks of last two semesters (or last year) of Graduation Exam (Qualifying Exam).

One who has passed the qualifying exam from other than Gujarat University need to obtain PEC from Gujarat University before registration process. One who has taken admission and passed any other programme from the Gujarat University after having passed Qualifying Exam (Graduation) need not have to obtain Provisional Eligibility Certificate (PEC). But such candidates are considered within the category of Other University.

No one is allowed to simultaneously register for a law degree programme with any other graduate or postgraduate or professional course run by the same or any other University or an Institute for academic or professional learning excepting in the law degree programme of the Gujarat University or any other University or Professional Institute Courses.

The maximum age for seeking admission is limited to 30 years. However, for SC and ST categories the maximum age limit for seeking admission shall be 35 years. As per the order of the Court, one exceeding above age may take admission on furnishing undertaking at the concerned Centre of Legal Education to the effect that one admission will be subject to the decision of the Bar Council of India as well as the decision of the Court.

No one is permitted to fill in the form after the cut-off date declared by the University for applying for LL.B. Semester I Programme is over.
