The Indian statistical institute is established by act 1959. An Act to declare the institution known as the Indian Statistical Institute having at present its registered office in Calcutta to be an institution of national importance and to provide for certain matters connected therewith

It shall come into force on such date as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint.

The Indian Statistical Institute is an academic institute of national importance as recognised by a 1959 act of the Indian parliament.

On 24th December, 1959 the Indian statistical institute is established under the act 1959. An Act to declare the institution known as the Indian Statistical Institute having at present its registered office in Calcutta to be an institution of national importance and to provide for certain matters connected therewith.

BE it enacted by Parliament in the Tenth Year of the Republic of India as this Act may be called the India Statistical Institute Act, 1959.

It shall come into force on such date1as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint.

The ISI Institute as per provision of University Grant Commission Act, 1956 and any such other provision in relation Institute can conduct examination.

On basis of examination institute would grant such degrees and diploma in statics, mathematics, quantitative economics, computer science or any such other subject in relation to static.
