Indian Police Service Work
I have completed my UG degree and want to join civil services and decided to give the Indian Police Service (IPS) Exam. Will you please tell me what types of roles and works done by Indian Police Service officer and tell me in which organization IPS works?

IPS officers in India work as senior police officers. IPS officers maintain public peace and order, prevent crime, investigate, collect intelligence, provide security to VIPs, and tackle terrorism and a range of other crimes. An I.P.S officer works for both the Central and State Governments. He serves the State Government in various capacities ranging from Assistant Superintendent of Police at the beginning of his career to the Director General of Police. Works of IPS: The IPS mainly takes care of law and order, which, at the district level, is a responsibility shared with the IAS; Crime prevention and detection and Traffic control and accident prevention and management. IPS officers also work in the national government agencies such as: Intelligence Bureau Research and Analysis Wing Central Bureau of Investigation, etc. IPS officers also get highly placed in several PSUs such as GAIL, SAIL, Indian Oil Corporation Limited etc Types of roles in IPS: Indian Forest Service Assistant Superintendent of Police Deputy Superintendent of Police Superintendent of Police Senior Superintendent of Police(Selection Grade) Deputy Inspector General of Police Inspector General of Police Additional Director General of Police Director General of Police Director General of Police (Head of Dept.)
