Indian Police Service Information
As I want to apply for the Indian Police Service [IPS] examination so please give me details about the eligibility criteria required to appear in the entrance exam of it? Also give me some details about that how can I apply for this? From where can I get the application form of it?

The Indian Police Service examination is a Civil Services Examination which is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission each year. IPS Exam Eligibility Criteria A candidate must hold a Bachelor's degree from any of the universities recognised by the UGC or possess an equivalent qualification. Age Limit : Minimum age 21 years Maximum age 32 years as on 1st of August in the year of examination Relaxable age limit is as follows: Up to max. 5 years for SC/ST candidates. Up to max. 3 years for OBC candidates. Up to max. 5 years for a candidate from the State of Jammu & Kashmir Up to max. 5 years for Defence Services personnel Up to max. 5 years for Ex-servicemen including Commissioned officers and ECOs/SSCOs who have rendered at least 5 years Military Service and have been released. Up to max. 5 years for ECOs/SSCOs who have completed an initial period of assignment of 5 years of Military Service. Up to max. 10 years for Blind, deaf-mute and Orthopaedically handicapped persons IPS Physical Criteria The physical criteria for eligibility of the IPS officer is as follows: Minimum Height Men - 165cm Women - 150cm Relaxable minimum height is 160cm (men) and 145cm (women) for candidates belonging to ST and races such as Gorkhas, Garhwalias, Assamese, Kumaonis, Nagaland Tribals, etc. Minimum Chest Girth - Men/Women: 84cm 79cm Myopia (including cylinder) should not exceed minus 4.00D Hypermyopia (including cylinder) should not exceed plus 4.00D The presence of Squint is a disqualification Spectacles are permitted Distant vision for better eye(Corrected Vision) should be 6/6 or 6/9 Distant vision for the worse eye(Uncorrected Vision) should be 6/12 or 6/9 Near vision should be J1 and J2 respectively High grade color vision is required and Binocular vision is needed IPS Exam pattern- Part A PAPERS OF OBJECTIVE TYPE Paper I - (200 marks) Duration : Two hours Current events of national and international importance History of India and Indian National Movement Indian and World Geography-Physical, Social, Economic Geography of India and the World. Indian Polity and Governance Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc. Economic and Social Development-Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives, etc. General issues on Environmental ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change - that do not require subject specialization General Science. Paper II-(200 marks) Duration : Two hours Comprehension Interpersonal skills including communication skills; Logical reasoning and analytical ability Decision making and problem solving General mental ability Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude, etc.) (Class X level), Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. Class X level) English Language Comprehension skills (Class X level). Note :- Questions relating to English Language Comprehension skills of Class X level (last item in the Syllabus of Paper-II) will be tested through passages from English language only without providing Hindi translation thereof in the question paper. Part B PAPERS OF DESCRIPTIVE TYPE Paper III : English (200 marks / 3 hours duration) :- This will be a qualifying test only of Matriculation or equivalent standard. The aim of the paper is to test the candidates ability to read and understand serious discursive prose, and to express his ideas clearly and correctly, in English.
