I want to make my future in catalysis research so I want to take admission in National Center for Catalysis Research (NCCR) of IIT Madras. Please provide me admission procedure for IITM NCCR?

The National Center for Catalysis Research (NCCR) at the Department of Chemistry, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras is established by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India in April 2006.

Catalysis is a multi-dimensional as well as multi-disciplinary science covering all the fourbranches of chemistry, namely Physical, Inorganic, Organic and Bio as well as chemical engineering and technology.

Facilities-

A.List Of Facilities And Equipments Avialable

1) Structural and textural characterization
- X-ray diffractometer (Rigaku)
- Surface area and pore volume distribution (Micromeritics ASAP 2030)
- Temperature-programmed technique, TPR, TPD (Micromeritics)
- Thermal analytical instrument (TG/DTA) (Perkin-Elmer)

2) Spectral Characterization
- Spectrofluorometer (Perkin-Elmer)
- FT-IR spectrometer (Bruker)
- UV-Vis spectrometer (Thermo-Electron) All with attachments for in-situ studies at different temperatures and atmospheres.

3) Catalyst screening and testing
- High pressure Batch reactors (Parr Autoclaves: 100 and 300 ml)
- High pressure down flow reactor (Xytel: 100 ml reactor volume)
- Atmospheric/low pressure down flow reactors (Hi-Tech)
- High pressure micro reactor (Hi-Tech)

4) Analytical facilities
- Gas chromatographs, including on-line analysis of reactor effluents and attached to catalyst evaluation units
- Simulated distillation GC
- X-ray fluorescence analyser - Polarimeter

5) Surface Analytical techniques

- X-ray photoelectron spectrometer (Omicron) with UVPS and Auger spectroscopy 6) Photo-catalytic reactions
- Light sources
- Reactors for studying various photo-catalytic conversions

7) Supporting equipments / Facilities: -

Two oil free compressors (reciprocating and scroll type) along with refrigerated drying units
- One lab-scale extruder (manual) for preparing catalyst extrudates. Multiple catalytic reactors

8) Microscopy JEOL TEM with EDX attachment. TEM high resolution
