Re: IIT Kanpur ICPC
ACM-ICPC is the largest computer programming contest in the world. The ACM-ICPC is an activity of the ACM that provides college students with an opportunity to demonstrate and sharpen their problem-solving and computing skills. The contest is considered to be the "Olympics Of Computer Programming". The ACM-ICPC Asia Regional Contests invite Asian students to meet, establish friendship and promote fair competition in programming. About the contest It is a two tier contest. The world is divided into six regions and Asia is a region. In Asia there are Fifteen host sites and Kanpur is one of them. Each site selects one team as winner of the site and will be eligible to participate in the world finals. The winning team of each site is eligible to participate to the world finals. Winning team may also get travel support from IBM and Directi to participate in the world finals. This was the Thirteenth year that IIT Kanpur organized the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (Asia Region). Participation In Indian Regional For the regionals, there are 3 sites within India - Amritapuri, IIT Kanpur, and IIT Kharagpur. Each regional site will host a preliminary online round. Based on performance of the online round, each regional site will decide on the number of teams to be invited for the on-site round. Preference will be given to maximize the number of colleges participating in the on-site round. Each regional site will have a few slots booked for advancing the top teams to the World Finals based on the performance of the teams in their on-site rounds. A team can participate at most in two regional sites. |
