IIT JAM Exam Pattern

Hii sir, I wants to give the IIT Jam Examination will you please provide me the Examination pattern of the IIT JAM Examination ?

IIT-JAM, acronym form of Indian Institute of Technology - Joint Admission Test for M.Sc. An engineering aspirant who has completed his bachelors and is willing to pursue Master degree from India's reputed IIT's need to qualify this entrance test.

Eligibility Criteria :

The applicants should at least score 55% aggregate marks for General/OBC category candidates and at least 50% aggregate marks for SC, ST and PD category candidates in the qualifying degree.

Sections of the Examination :

Biological Sciences (BL)
Biotechnology (BT)
Chemistry (CY)
Geology (GG)
Mathematics (MA)
Mathematical Statistics (MS)
Physics (PH)


Examination pattern

Section – A


This section will contain Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) with four choices out of which only one choice is the correct answer.

There will be 30 Questions carrying a total of 50 marks.

There is negative marking for this section

Q.1 – Q.10 will be for 1 mark each. A wrong answer will result in deduction of 1/3 marks

Q.11 – Q.30 will be for 2 marks each. A wrong answer will result in deduction of 2/3 marks

Section – B

This section contains Multiple Select Questions (MSQ) with one or more than one choice(s) being correct out of the four given choices.

There will be 10 Questions carrying a total of 20 marks.

There is NO NEGATIVE and NO PARTIAL marking provisions in this section

Section – C:

This section contains Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions where the answer is a real number that needs to be entered using the virtual numerical keypad on the monitor.

No choices will be given for these type of questions. Candidates have to calculate the answer.

There is no negative marking for this section

This section will have 20 Questions for a total of 30 marks.

Q.1 – Q.10 carry 1 mark each and Questions Q.11 – Q.20 carry 2 marks each.
