Time Allowed—3 hours .

Maximum marks—300 marks .

All questions are objective in nature.

Can you tell me if the UPSC IFS (Union Public Service Commission Indian Forest Service) Exam has only Multiple Choice Questions as want to check it before applying for it?

The UPSC IFS (Union Public Service Commission Indian Forest Service) exam consists of two stages. The first one is the Civil Services Preliminary Exam which is an objective type test. The second one is the Indian Forest Service Main Examination which consists of Written and an Interview test.

The Preliminary exam is conducted for a total of 400 marks, while the Main written exam for 1400 marks and the Interview for 300 marks. There will be negative marking only in the preliminary exam.


UPSC IFS Exam Pattern for Prelims

Preliminary exam consists of two papers: Paper- 1 based on General Studies (GS) and Paper 2 is General Studies based on the Civil Service Aptitude Test (CSAT).

The Written exam for IFS Mains consists of six papers and all Papers are required to be answered in English only.
