The Indian Council of Medical Research provides financial assistance to promote health research. The assistance is provided by way of grants to scientists/professionals who have a regular employment in the universities, medical colleges, postgraduate institutions, recognized research and development laboratories and NGOs (documentary evidence of the recognition should be enclosed with the application).

The Information About the MEDICAL INNOVATION FUND of the Indian Council of Medical Research is given below

About the Scheme : Council invites proposals from ICMR laboratories either individually or jointly with other ICMR institutes under the Medical Innovation Fund for support from ICMR. These proposals are meant for pursuing hitherto unreported, novel ideas having far reaching scientific and medical implications.

Procedure to be adopted:
1. Proposal for concept proof to be prepared for a duration of 2-3years
2. It should be commercialable within 4-6 years
3. It should have relevance to the industry in relatively short time.
4. Once concept has been proven a full project can be submitted to any of the funding agency.
5. Projects are typically for testing these ideas within fund of Rs 10,00,000/- each.
6. If the idea is successful and results in international patent and protected, a personal award of Rs 20,000/ to 1 lakh can be given.
