Library Science Education in Gujarat University was started from 15 June 1964.
The Department of Library and Information Science is the second oldest in the state.

Bachelor of Library and Information Science(BLISc)
Eligibility;
The Candidate must have passed a Bachelors Degree with minimum 50% marks and IInd class in Aggregate in any faculty of Gujarat University or of any other university recognised as equivalent to the corresponding examination of Gujarat University.

Course fee:

25 seats:
Education fee Rs2000 / per term(According to GujaratUniversity Announcements) and Computer teaching/ trainingfee per term Rs1000/ and other fee as per university announcement, Per term Rs3000 + other fee

10 seats (Self Financing) (annual):
Above stated non self financing fee Annual Rs6000 + other fee (annual) and plus Rs5000 more

Library Science Education in Gujarat University was started from 15 June 1964. This Department is the second oldest in the state. A one-year diploma course was started in the year 1964. In June 1984, the status of the school was changed to Department of Library and Information Science.


Two Years Integrated Master of Library & Information Science Course


Duration:
4 Semesters (2years)


Eligibility:
Any graduates in recognized discipline of this university, or from other university with minimum 50% marks in aggregate
Admission shall be on the basis of merit points only.

35 Seats [as per government reservation policy]
25 Seats – Grant-in-aid

Medium of Instruction:
Knowledge of English is essential though Gujarati is the official language for instruction.
Students can appear in any three languages i.e. Gujarati, English or Hindi.


Hours of instruction / work:
Average six-seven hours for direct teaching or as per the requirement of papers


Self-Study:
Students shall be engaged in self-study at least for 3hours a day


Internship:
One month internship at the end of 2nd and 4th Semester at hitech libraries of Ahmedabad and nearby


Theory and practice hours:
This course is a service oriented course. Hands on practice for almost every practical papers shall be balanced
