Re: Grading System in Delhi University

The University of Delhi informally is a public central university located in New Delhi, India. It was established in 1922. The University is approved by UGC.

DU Grading System


The grading system is considered to be better than the conventional marks system and hence it has been followed in the top institutions in India and abroad.

Applicability of the Grading System

These guidelines shall apply to all undergraduate and postgraduate level degree, diploma and certificate programmes under the credit system awarded by the Central, State and Deemed to be universities in India.

The UGC recommends a 10-point grading system with the following letter grades as
given below:

Letter Grade Grade Point
O (Outstanding) 10
A+(Excellent) 9
A(Very Good) 8
B+(Good) 7
B(Above Average) 6
C(Average) 5
P (Pass) 4
F(Fail) 0
Ab (Absent) 0
