When India became a republic country , India constituted its own Gallantry Award for bravery in Combat. Foremost Indian Air Force Gallantry Awards was the Param Vir Chakra, followed in precedence by the Maha Vir Chakra and the Vir Chakra. Param Vir Chakra Conditions of Eligibility: The decoration may be awarded posthumously. The Param Vir Chakra is awarded for most bravery or some daring or pre-eminent act of valour or self sacrifice, in the presence of the enemy, whether on land, at sea, or in the air. Mahavir Chakra Conditions of Eligibility: The Mahavir Chakra medal is awarded for gallantry in the presence of the enemy on land, at sea or in the air. Monetary Allowance. Rs. 2400/- pm and each bar to the decoration will carry the same amount of monetary allowance The decoration may be awarded posthumously. Ashoka Chakra Conditions of Eligibility: The Ashoka Chakrais awarded for most conspicuous bravery or some act of daring or pre-eminent act of valour or self-sacrifice otherwise than in the face of the enemy. Monetary Allowance. Rs. 2800/- and each bar to the decoration will carry the same amount of monetary allowance . The decoration may be awarded posthumously. Vir Chakra Conditions of Eligibility: The Vir Chakra is awarded for acts of gallantry in the presence of the enemy, whether on land or at sea or in the air. Monetary Allowance. Rs. 1700/- pm and each bar to the decoration will carry the same amount of monetary allowance . The decoration may be awarded posthumously. |
