High Court of Delhi invited online applications for filling up 45 Posts in Delhi Judicial Service through Delhi Judicial Service Examination 2019. The exam will be conducted in two successive stages via Delhi Judicial Service Preliminary Exam and Delhi Judicial Service Main Exam. Important Dates Start of application process: August 2 Last date to apply: September 22 Vacancy Details Total posts: 45 Name of the Post: General: 6 posts SC: 12 posts ST: 27 posts Eligibility Criteria: One shall be eligible to appear in the exam if one is (a) A citizen of India; (b) A person practising as an Advocate in India or a person qualified to be admitted as an Advocate under the Advocates Act, 1961 and (c) not more than 32 years of age as on the 1st day of January following the date of start of the exam, i.e., .1st January, 2020. Selection Procedure Selection process will be consists of Objective Type Preliminary Examination, followed by Delhi Judicial Service Main Examination (Written) for selection of candidates for Viva voce. Application Fee For General Category - Rs 1000/- For SC/ST/PWD - Rs 200/- Pay Scale The scale of pay of members of the service is Rs 56,100 to 1, 77,500. Syllabus of Delhi Judicial Service Civil Judge Exam The Delhi Judicial Services Exam will be conducted in three successive stages: Delhi Judicial Service Preliminary Exam Delhi Judicial Services Main Exam (written) Viva Voice Preliminary Examination The Preliminary Examination will be a Screening Test and will consist of one paper of multiple objective type questions carrying maximum of 200 marks. The preliminary examination covers question on: General knowledge Aptitude Candidates power of expression English Constitution of India Code of Civil Procedure Code of Criminal Procedure Indian Penal Code Contract Act Partnership Act Principles Governing Arbitration Law Evidence Act Specific Relief Act and Limitation Act Main Examination The Main Examination (Written) will include the following subjects (each subject to carry the number of marks shown against it):- General Knowledge and Language: This paper shall comprise of two sections. Section I: General Knowledge: This is to test the candidate’s knowledge of current affairs etc. (100 Marks) Section II: Language (Essay, Translation and Precis Writing): This is to test the candidate’s knowledge and power of expression in English. Credit will be given both for substance and expression. Conversely deduction will be made for bad expression, faults of grammar and misuse of words etc. There will be two passage for translations one in English which will be required to be translated into Hindi (in Devnagri Script). The Second passage in Hindi (in Devnagri Script) shall be required to be translated into English. (150 marks) Civil Law-I: Indian Contract Act, Indian Sale of Goods Act, Indian Partnership Act, Specific Relief Act, Hindu Law, Mohammadan Law, Delhi Rent Control Act and Law of Torts. (200 marks) Civil Law-II: Civil Procedure Code, Law of Evidence, Law of Limitation & Law of Registration (200 marks) Criminal Law: Criminal Procedure Code, Indian Penal Code & Indian Evidence Act (200 marks) Interview / Viva-Voce Viva-voce will carry 150 marks. Only such candidates will be called for Viva-voce who have obtained 40% marks in each written paper and 50% marks in aggregate except for candidates belonging to reserved categories i.e. Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Physically Handicapped (Blind/Low Vision) (mobility not to be restricted)/Orthopaedically in whose case the qualifying marks are 35% in each written paper and 45% in the aggregate One of General Category must secure minimum 50% marks and a candidate of Reserved Category i.e. Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Physically Handicapped (Blind/Low Vision) (mobility not to be restricted)/Orthopaedically must secure minimum 45% marks in Viva-Voce to be eligible for being recommended for appointment to the service.
