Joint CSIR UGC National Eligibility Test is conducted by CSIR to provide the Junior Research Fellowship to all the qualified candidates.

Important dates-

Online application process starts from 16th August 2016
Date of close of deposit of fees (all stations) 8th September 2016
Date of close of online submission 9th September 2016
Last date of receipt of duly completed hard copy of online application in the examination unit 16th September 2016
Last date of receipt of duly completed hard copy of online application in the examination unit (from remote areas) 23rd September 2016
Last date for receipt of written request for change of examination centre only on merit basis 14th October 2016
Tentative date of publication of list of candidates registered for test on CSIR HRDG website 15th November 2016
Last date for accepting of representation about non-registration for this test 22nd November 2016
Exam Date (CSIR UGC NET December 2016) 18th December 2016

CSIR UGC NET exam Eligibility Criteria

B.Tech, B.E, B.Pharma, MBBS, M.Sc with at least 55 % from a recognized university

Candidates who are appearing in the final year of M.Sc or have done 10+2+3 years, they can apply for it.

Candidates who have bachelor’s degree in science, engineering or in any other discipline,

Age Limit –

For JRF (NET)-

Candidate’s age should not be more than 28 years

Age relaxation is applicable as per government rule.

For LS (NET) -There is no age limit for it.

Examination Pattern

There will be total 5 subjects in the exam - Mathematical Sciences, Atmospheric, Earth, Ocean and Planetary Sciences, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences and Chemical Sciences.

The will be one paper of total 200 MCQ type questions.

The candidates will also have to pay the penalty for wrong answer.

The question paper will be divided into 3 sections- A,B and C.

Section A- This section is common for all the subjects and consists of question related to General Aptitude, Graphical Analysis, Logical Reasoning, Numeric Ability etc.

Section B- This section consists of MCQ type questions which will cover numerous topics of the concerned subject. However, for the Engineering Sciences, there will be questions related to Mathematics and Engineering Aptitude will also include.

Section C- This section consists of questions of high values to examine the candidates’ knowledge of scientific concepts and/or the application of these scientific concepts. There will be subjects-related MCQs for Engineering Sciences for Part C.

Application Fees-

The candidates have to deposit the examination fee at any branch of the Indian Bank across the country.

The category-wise fee chart is as follows-

General category- Rs. 1000/-
OBC/NCL category- Rs. 500/-
SC/ST/PH/VH category- 250/-
