Communications engineers design and modify electrical communications systems for scientific, military, industrial or commercial use.

Communications engineers work within a number of industries as internet and computing technologies, networking and telecommunications and radio etc..

Responsibilities of Communications engineers Include:
Managing, monitoring the performance of and working as part of a team of communication engineers/planners
Agreeing project budgets, timescales and specifications with clients/managers
Ensuring that objectives and deadlines are met
Attending conferences and briefings on new products/networks
Producing disaster management plans
Writing reports and documentation
Making presentations
Managing resources
Liaising with suppliers, customers, directors and other teams of staff
Organising/attending meetings
Producing and implementing designs
Creating test procedures
Analysing and interpreting data
Providing technical support
Problem solving
Undertaking site surveys
Undertaking relevant research

Key skills required for communications engineer work:
