CDM (Clinical Data Management) is an important phase in clinical research, which leads to generation of high-quality, reliable, and statistically thorough data from clinical trials.
CDM ensures collection, integration and availability of data at suitable quality and cost. CDM supports the conduct, management and analysis of studies across the range of clinical research. The final goal of CRDM is to assure that data support assumptions drawn from research. Attaining this goal protects public health and confidence in marketed therapeutics.

The CDM plays a crucial role in the operation and conduct of a clinical trial. The data collected through a clinical trial forms the basis of successive safety and efficiency analysis which in turn drive decision making on product development.
Once subject enrolment begins, the data manager ensures that data is collected, confirmed, complete and steady. The clinical data manager communicates with other data providers and ensures that such data is transferred securely and is consistent with other data collected in the clinical trial. At the conclusion of the clinical trial, the clinical data manager ensures that all data expected to be taken has been accounted for and that all data management activities are complete. At this stage, the data is declared final and the clinical data manager transfers data for statistical analysis
