The examination conducted by the UPSC to select Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and Indian Police Service (IPS) officers among others. The examination is conducted in three stages Preliminary Main Interview UPSC has effected major changes in number of attempts from 2014 onwards. Applicants shall be permitted six attempts said a notification issued by UPSC No restriction on number of attempts for Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) applicants Applicants between the age group of 21 and 32 years as on August 1, 2014 can take the prestigious exam. Applicants "must have been born not earlier than August, 2, 1982 and not later than August 1, 1993" to take the exam. There has been no other change in the format and syllabi of exam papers. Seven attempts are permissible to aspirants belonging to OBCs Age Relaxation The upper age limit of 32 years is relaxed by five more years for applicants belonging to SC and ST categories Three years for OBC applicants Five years for people who lived in Jammu and Kashmir during the period between January 1, 1980 and December 31, 1989, among others. Important dates: Date of Notification 17th May, 2014 Last Date of receipt of applications 14th Jun, 2014 Date of IAS (Prel.) Exam 14th Aug, 2014 Date of IAS (Main) Exam 12th Dec, 2014 |
