Re: Business Ethics

Hey as Business ethics (also corporate ethics) is a form of applied ethics or professional ethics that examines ethical principles and moral or ethical problems that arise in a business environment.
History
Business ethical norms reflect the norms of each historical period. As time passes norms evolve, causing accepted behaviours to become objectionable.
Business ethics and the resulting behaviour evolved as well. Business was involved in slavery colonialism and the cold war

Benefits of ethics

Establish organizational roles to manage ethics
Schedule ongoing assessment of ethics requirements
Establish required operating values and behaviors
Align organizational behaviors with operating values
Develop awareness and sensitivity to ethical issues
Integrate ethical guidelines to decision making
Structure mechanisms to resolving ethical dilemmas
Facilitate on going evaluation and updates to the program
Help convince employees that attention to ethics is not just a knee-jerk reaction done to get out of trouble or improve public image

Academic discipline

As an academic discipline, business ethics emerged in the 1970s. Since no academic business ethics journals or conferences existed, researchers published in general management journals, and attended general conferences.
Over time, specialized peer-reviewed journals appeared, and more researchers entered the field.
Corporate scandals in the earlier 2000s increased the field's popularity.
As of 2009, sixteen academic journals devoted to various business ethics issues existed, with Journal of Business Ethics and Business Ethics Quarterly considered the leaders.
