The IIT Kanpur has a BSNL IITK Telecom Centre Of Excellence. The BSNL IITK Telecom Centre of Excellence is situated at IIT Kanpur.

The centre was established in 12th December 2007 with the signing of a tri-partite Memorandum of Understanding between the Department of Telecommunication, Government of India, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), during the inauguration ceremony of India Telecom 2007.
