The specific objective in education of Bioenergy Department TNAU (Tamil Nadu Agricultural University) is to impart knowledge on the various aspects of renewable energy and energy auditing & management. The main aim in education is taken care of by suitable formulation of courses, fine-tuning of course contents according to the need and development of the technology. Faculty members Dr. S. Pugalendhi, Professor and Head Dr. S. Karthikeyan Professor (Microbiology) Dr.D. Ramesh , Assistant Professor (Bioenergy) Dr. R. Mahendiran, Assistant Professor (Bioenergy) Dr. R. Angeeswaran, Assistant Professor (Bioenergy) Dr. S. Sriramajayam, Assistant Professor (Bioenergy) Dr. K. Chandrakumar Assistant Professor (Biochemistry) Research Research works include creation of linkages at farm and agro industrial level for diagnosing the problem and identifying the require to substitute renewable energy and conserve fossil fuels. The specific and key objectives in research and extension are to identify the need and gap in present day renewable energy utilization in various spheres, to formulate research programmes and extend the results, employ the developed gadgets for substituting/ complementing conventional sources of energy. The major areas of research are solar, wind, generation of biofuels such as producer gas, biogas, biodiesel, bioethanol etc. keeping in view of the prospects of renewable energy technology applications in home, farm and agro-industrial sectors.
