No you are not eligible to apply for Graduate aptitude test in engineering while doing B tech 3rd year studies. final year student are eligible to apply for GATE examination.

The eligibility criteria for GATE :

You have to pass B.Tech/B.E./B.Arch from any recognized college /university. and you must obtained a minimum of 60% marks in Graduation.
OR
Post graduate in any stream from any recognised college or university.

Age limit :
There is no age limit for the GATE exam.
No limit of attempts required for the GATE exam.
