National Service Scheme NSS provides diversified opportunities to students in colleges and Universities to develop their personality through community services.

It is no wonder that the NSS activities in Tamilnadu are rated as the best in the Country.

The experienced and dynamic leadership provided by the NSS Co-ordinator, Principals/Deans of various Engineering of colleges and the tremendous cooperation and support rendered by the managements have made it possible.

Community services rendered by university level students have covered several aspects like adoption of villages for intensive development work, mass tree plantation, technology transfer programmes, technologies for rural development, various technical training programmes for self-help groups and rural youth etc., Considering the benefits Anna University has made NSS compulsory at UG level for the first two years.
