No, CPT is not compulsory for those who have completed graduation. If you are applying for CA course after completing graduation, you can directly enter in to the second level –IPCC in CA course. Graduates/ Post Graduates are exempted from Writing CPT and are eligible to directly join IPCC and Article ship. The Following Graduates and Post Graduates are exempted from writing CPT: Accounting, Auditing, Mercantile Laws, Corporate Laws, Economics, Management including Financial Management, Taxation including Direct Tax Laws, Indirect Tax Laws etc., Costing, Business Administration, Management Accounting & You have passed the graduate/post-graduate examination by securing in the aggregate a Minimum of 55% of the Total marks or its equivalent grade from any recognized Universities including Open Universities.
