Yes you can join Merchant Navy after passing Diploma in Mechanical Engineering courses. Here I am giving you information about required eligibility for merchant navy .

following is the eligibility :
you have to passed diploma course with Mech/ELE/ECE stream and obtained 50 % in diploma
your age should not be above 28 years.

Required eligibility for deck cadet in merchant navy below ..

Deck cadet –
You have to pass a diploma in Nautical Science.
The minimum education qualification is 10+2 with P.C.M (Physics, Chemistry and Math) as compulsory subjects and you must scored minimum 50% in aggregate and 50% in English at 12th level.

Age Limit : 16-25 Years

Medical Standards:
Candidates should be physically and Mentally strong, fit for sea-services under standard norms

Eye-Sight :
6/6 without glasses,
No color Blindness.

Merchant navy courses:
3 month Pre-Sea Course in Deck rating.
3 month Pre-Sea Course in Engine rating.
4 month Pre-Sea Course in Saloon rating.
1 year Pre-Sea Diploma in Nautical Science

HND (Higher National Diploma) Nautical Science
HND (Higher National Diploma) Marine Engineering
B.E Marine Engineering (4-Year Degree course in Marine Engineering)
B.S. in Nautical Technology (3 years training at Institute + 1 year at Sea)
3-Year B.Sc. Degree in Nautical Science
2-year Marine Engineering course
1-year Marine Engineering Course, Graduate Marine Engineer(GME)

Sorry to say after diploma you are not eligible to join Navy, to join Indian Navy you have to appear in CDS exam

The minimum educational qualification required for it is graduation degree in engineering

So firstly complete your graduation degree in engineering than you can apply for this

CDS stands for Combined Defence Services Examination

It is conducted twice a year by the Union Public Service Commission

Eligibility criteria for Naval Academy:
Must have passed Bachelor of Engineering from recognized University

Age limit:
Age should be between 19-23 years
