About AIIMS Exam

Can you tell in detail about the entrance exam for MBBS course of All India Institute of Medical Sciences or AIIMS as I want to take admission in it?

All India Institute of Medical Sciences MBBS Entrance Examination (AIIMS MBBS) AIIMS MBBS 2015 is a national level undergraduate medical entrance exam conducted by All India Institute of Medical Sciences (New Delhi) for admission to MBBS programmes. AIIMS MBBS 2015 result will be the basis for admission to 672 MBBS seats in 7 AIIMS institutions located across India.

Eligibility:-
Age:- Should have attained or will attain the age of 17 (seventeen) years as on the 31st of December of the year of admission (2015). Candidates born on or after 2nd January, 1999 are NOT eligible to apply.

Qualification:-
Should have passed the 12th Class under the 10+2 Scheme/ Senior School Certificate Examination (CBSE) or Intermediate Science (I.Sc) or an equivalent Examination of a recognized University/ Board of any Indian State with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology as subject

Candidates who have appeared or are appearing at the qualifying Examination with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology as main subject and expect to pass the Examination with required percentage of marks are also eligible to apply and appear in the Competitive Entrance Examination. However, their candidature will be considered only if they provide documentary evidence of having passed the qualifying Examination with the required subjects and percentage of marks.

The minimum aggregate of the marks in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology obtained in the qualifying examination as in the Essential Qualification required for appearing in this examination are:
General and OBC candidates: 60 %
SC/ST/OPH Candidates: 50 %

Paper Pattern
The Exam will be of 3½ hours duration and will have one paper consisting of 200 objective type (multiple choice and reason- assertion type) questions from subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and General Knowledge.

Subject – Number of Questions
•Physics - 60 questions
•Chemistry - 60 questions
•Biology (Botany and Zoology) - 60 questions
•General Knowledge - 20 questions

Question paper will be provided either in English or in Hindi according to the choice marked during application.

Hey as AIIMS is one of the most prestigious institutions in India. AIIMS Exam is held for the admission of students to the MBBS/BDS course offered by the institution.

Exam pattern

Physics 60 (40+20) 1 x 60 = 60

Chemistry 60(40+20) 1 x 60 = 60

Biology 60 (40+20) 1 x 60 = 60

G. K. 20 1 x 20 = 20


Each incorrect response will get a score of -1/3 (minus-one-third).

Each correct response will get a score of 1 mark.

No credit will be given for the questions not answered.

More than one response will be treated as wrong answer and negatively marked.

Age limit

Age must be 17 years at the time of Entrance exam.

Qualification required

60% marks in aggregate in 4 subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology for General and 50% marks for SC/ST/OPH category are required for AIIMS test.
Number of Attempts:

If a candidate does not qualify/pass MBBS 1st Professional Examination in 3 attempts (regular & supplementary) and 2nd Professional Examination/3rd Professional Examination in 4 attempts i.e. 2 regular plus 2 supplementary Examinations (for all subjects) for each phase then the name of such students will be struck off from the rolls of the Institute
