West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) was first commenced in the year 1962 for the selection of candidates for admission to the State Engineering Colleges on the basis of result of WBJEE.

Students of both West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education and the central Indian School Certificate board can take the test, though it is dominated by the former.
