Re: UPCAT Scores Meaning
Many applicants who aspire to enter the University of the Philippines have to take the UPCAT or University of the Philippines College Admission Test. The UPCAT exam is administered nationwide. It consists of 4 subtests: Language Proficiency (English and Filipino), Science, Math and Reading Comprehension (English and Filipino). Standardized UPCAT scores are combined with the weighted average of 3 years of high school final grades to determine the UP admission grade. To implement the policy of enhanced access and democratization, the selection of campus qualifiers also considers socioeconomic and geographic factors. The University of the Philippines has eight constituent universities: • UP Diliman (with an Extension Program in Pampanga) • UP Baguio • UP Los Baños • UP Manila (with Schools of Health Sciences in Baler, Palo and Koronadal) • UP Visayas (with campuses in Iloilo/Miagao and Tacloban) • UP Cebu • UP Mindanao, and • UP Open University.
