The department started undergraduate course in Electrical Engineering in 2008.Since inception the department is working continuously towards contributing novel and innovative ideas in Electrical Engineering to keep pace with the latest technological developments.

The faculty of the Electrical Engineering Department at UIT is dedicated to continued innovation through its program of academic instruction and research. Our undergraduate academic program is designed to prepare the student for a career in industry or business by providing him or her with a thorough foundation of the fundamental concepts and analytical tools of contemporary electrical engineering.


Eligibility Criteria for Admission:

One who has passed/appeared this year in the Higher Secondary (10+2) or its equivalent examination with English, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and vernacular or any other fifth subject is eligible.

The general candidates must have to secure minimum 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics taken together (40% for SC/ST candidates) and minimum 30% marks in English under West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or equivalent exam of a University/ Recognized Board/Council. The selection of the candidates who have appeared will, however, be subject to their passing of the said examination before admission.

One needs to appear at a written test conducted by the “West Bengal Board of Examination for Admission to Engineering, Medical & Technology Degree Colleges”.

The final selection is made through counselling conducted by the “Central Selection Committee”.

Candidates finally selected for admission, need to produce certificates of fitness from a Medical Officer in the prescribed form.


Age Restriction:

Candidates must be 17 (seventeen) years of age or above as on 31st December.


Duration of the Course:

(i) The 4-year Course shall be divided into 8 independent semesters with two semesters (Odd Semester – July to December and Even Semester - January to June) in one academic year.
(ii) The number of teaching weeks in each semester shall be 16 to 18 with a minimum of 90 teaching days excluding the period of final examinations.
