Re: MVA Drivers License Renewal

You must renew online, by Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration MVA Self-Serve Kiosk or by mail if you are under 40 years of age and your renewal notice indicates that you are eligible.

All other Maryland drivers may renew online if the MVA indicates that they can do so in their renewal notices.

Drivers aged 40 and over must have their vision results submitted electronically by an Authorized Online Vision Certification Provider.

The vision certification must be current, within twelve months of renewing.

Please visit an MVA branch office to renew your license if one of the following conditions exists:

Your social security number cannot be verified; OR
You have suspensions, cancellations or revocations; OR
You have a tax compliance flag; OR
You have a suspension in another state; OR
You are a commercial driver; OR
You have an alert on your record

Your driver’s license will be mailed to the address on record at the MVA.

When you receive your new license, you must destroy your old license.

Maryland law allows only one driver's license per driver.

You should receive your new license in two weeks or less.

Please call the MVA at 1-410-768-7000 if you do not receive your new license after 15 days.
