The Madurai Kamaraj University was established in 1965.

The University is approved by UGC and accredited by NAAC.

It offers 41 Post Graduate, 35 M.Phil. and 17 Diploma / P.G. Diploma / Certificate courses.

Presently, 66 U.G. and 45 P.G. courses are offered in the affiliated Colleges.

The University offers courses in Regular and Distance Learning Mode.
