Re: LSAT Alberta

The Faculty of Law is the graduate school of law of the University of Alberta which was established in 1912. It offers a three-year Juris Doctor (J.D.) program, as well as the graduate degrees of Master of Laws (LL.M.) and Ph.D.

University of Alberta Faculty of Law median LSAT Score – 163

Admissions Process

The Faculty evaluates Applicants in 2 different ways, with the goal of securing students with the highest potential to succeed in law.

The majority of successful Applicants are admitted by use of a "prediction indicator" that constitutes a combination of the Applicant's GPA and LSAT score.

The Admissions Committee adjusts the weighting of these scores annually in order to provide the best prediction of success in law school.

The applicant profile details competitive admission scores from the previous admission cycle.

In constructing the prediction indicator, the following factors are taken into account:

• The Admission GPA is calculated using the applicant's most recent 60 units/credits in a recognized university degree (undergraduate or graduate), provided those units of course weight are completed by February 1st in the year in which admission is sought.
• This is the minimum number of units/credits or courses that will be used in the assessment of an applicant's GPA.
• Courses that are transferable to the U of A, completed as a "special student" or "unclassified student", is used in admission GPA, so extended as it is not introductory level courses.
• Courses completed in the Winter/second term of the year admission is sought are not used in the assessment of an application except in the case of two year applicants
• Grades from universities other than the University of Alberta are converted to the grading scale in use at the University, for the purpose of comparative evaluation.
• The LSAT score used is an average of all valid LSAT scores.

One with lower prediction indicators are assessed as part of an in-depth holistic review of the applicant's overall admission package.
